Description
Begin your exciting drive south through to the beautiful Ourika Valley abounding with green trees, palmeraies, and ancient Berber villages.
About 36km from Marrakech, this valley starts at the Ruined of the Caidal Kasbah and mosque of Caïd Ouriki. Your driver will go through the colorful hills among the olive groves and the ochre-red villages set amongst terraced fields seeming to hang from the slopes.
The majority of the hamlets on your way were built from the earth of the surrounding hills.
A turn at Aghbalou road takes you across Jbel Oukaïmeden, Morocco’s N°1 ski resort of Oukaïmeden with its ski lift 3273 meters above sea level taking in the breathtaking fairy tale valley below. Traveling northward, with the magnificent mountains of the Western High Atlas always looking down, we turn south to Tahanaoute.
Continue to Imlil via Asni, where you will leave your vehicle for a delicious traditional meal with a breathtaking view over the banks of the Assif Aït Mizane.
Getting to know your Berber guide is always a fun part of our hikes, and this is where you will join the group with mules for the onward journey by foot. With the magnificent Jbel Toubkal and her sisters almost within touching distance, we set off on our private guided walk.
Enjoy a cup of mint tea in one of the local houses and rest awhile in Armed before heading back to rejoin your vehicle at Imlil at around 16.00 for our return to Marrakech, where we should arrive back at 17.30 in the afternoon.
